Build a finance function that can support real growth. Bring structure to a business that’s scaling by design.
We’re working with a private equity backed group operating at around £20m revenue, with a clear buy-and-build strategy and significant growth planned.
The business has moved beyond early-stage finance. What it needs now is a Head of Finance who can take ownership of the function, bring consistency across the group, and support increasingly complex decision-making.
This is the number one finance role in the business. It’s suited to someone stepping up into broader responsibility rather than someone looking for a finished structure. The role is remote based, with regular travel to UK sites to stay close to operations and leadership.
The role
- You’ll own the finance function end to end and act as the senior financial voice in the business.
- This isn’t about producing reports for the sake of it. It’s about making finance genuinely useful.
Your remit will include:
- Ownership of monthly group management accounts and consolidated reporting
- Board and investor reporting with clear insight and narrative
- Budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning aligned to growth and acquisition
- Hands-on cashflow and working capital management
- Oversight of audits, statutory accounts, and financial compliance
- Managing tax, VAT, and relationships with external advisors
- Supporting acquisitions through due diligence and post-deal integration
- Improving systems, controls, and processes as the group grows
- Acting as a commercial partner to senior leadership
- Initially, this will be hands-on. Over time, you’ll build the structure around you.
What they’re looking for
This role will suit someone who:
- Is a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Has operated at Financial Controller or Head of Finance level in a growing business
- Is ready to step into a true #1 finance role
- Has strong technical foundations and sound commercial judgement
- Is comfortable in private equity backed or investor-led environments
- Has exposure to group reporting and some M&A or integration activity
- Enjoys building finance functions rather than inheriting polished ones
- You don’t need to have been a CFO. You do need the capability and ambition to grow into one.
Why this role?
- Because finance will be listened to.
- Because growth is planned, not theoretical.
- Because you’ll help shape the business, not just report on it.
- If you’re ready to take full ownership of a finance function and grow with the business, this is worth a conversation.
